TRAINING PHILOSOPHY: My name is Tammy Mills and I am a certified dog trainer who believes in and promotes fun and humane dog training. I know from first-hand experience the difference training makes in the relationship between dog (or any animal) and owner. Without professional training, it can sometimes be a frustrating relationship. However, with an investment in good training, a wonderful transformation will occur. I would like to help stop that "revolving door" that shelters see so often. Some animals come in and out of the shelter many times before (and IF) they finally find their forever, loving families. I feel that training should be fun for the human AND for the dog. If I can help make a difference in someone's life, whether animal or human, and help them live happily together, then my goals have been achieved. My mission is to help you and your dog enjoy many happy years together.
EXPECTATIONS: Working through a training program with me will help you learn to understand what your dog is saying to you. It will also help you learn to train your dog in a way that he understands and wants to listen. Whatever your goals, a great family pet, a well behaved dog you can take anywhere, therapy work or professional sports, the right training will help you reach those goals. There is not a problem that cannot be solved with patience, love and good training. It is never necessary or recommended to hurt your dog to get the behaviors you desire. Training is for both the human and for the dog and should be enjoyed by all.
EDUCATION: I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College where I first earned my certification as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer. I am also certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). My certification, education and experience provide me the skills required to effectively and humanely train your dog while keeping alive the spark that makes your dog so special to you. I attend yearly educational seminars to keep informed of the most up to date, humane, and fun ways to train your dog and have fun. I am a member of Truly Dog Friendly, The Pet Professionals Guild, Family Paws, Doggone Safe, and the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, which are great resources, and am a member of a Force Free Training group on-line. I am also a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator.
MY GOALS: To ensure that both you and your best friend have a wonderful time and learn to be all you can be.... together.
